A Fine Investment Serves Up Fine Food in a Fine Location

Over £200,000 of private investment in a Kidlington restaurant is not only literally feeding local businesses, but is also enhancing the whole area. The refurbished Tiffins Tandoori, on High Street, has complemented the recent high quality public space improvements along with further building work nearby, to make the village centre a fine place to live, work and visit.

The story of Mr Moznu Miah and his family illustrates the opportunities to grow a thriving business in North Oxfordshire. Having arrived from Bangladesh in 1972, Moznu's father opened the Moon Light restaurant in Cowley Road, Oxford a year later. From just 24 covers the business grew to 250 as neighbouring then sold as Kidlington's strengths were identified moving into the current premises in High Street in 1992.

Moznu says: "I pay less than half the rent here than I would do in Oxford, plus my customers have free public car parking very close by.  I love Kidlington and feel part of the family here. Local people are supportive and welcoming. We have many loyal customers nearby and others who easily get here on the A34 and M40. Customers return from America and Europe - one recently visited from Mexico and told me he had first eaten with us in 1978!"

Tiffins employs ten members of staff and supports neighbouring businesses: "I always seek local suppliers first and we buy most of our ingredients from within the village or from Oxford" explains Moznu.

Kidlington has welcomed huge investment in recent years with a diverse array of service, engineering and technology companies locating in and around the airport.  Moznu was keen to say that Tiffins, as a local business, has benefited from this as well. "We often deliver our food to these businesses - we even deliver to Formula One race teams!"

It's clear that Tiffins provides the fuel for business minds and hearts in and around Kidlington! As for the future, Moznu adds: "I am committed to the village and am considering expanding my premises further".
