Working Age Population

The working age population in Cherwell is higher than the average in the South East and in Great Britain.

  • 45,500 (66.5%) are male.
  • 41,000 (48.8%) are female.
  • 86.7% of the working age population are currently in work. This compares favourably against the rest of the South East where 82.5% are currently in work and with the rest of the Uk, where 78.9% are currently in work.
  • 4% are unemployed.
  • 7.1% are economically inactive e.g. in full-time education etc,. therefore not seeking a job.
  • 6.2% are economically inactive but seeking employment.
